Slater announces retirement

as dean of College of

Communication

 

Mark MourerDr. Bill Slater, dean of the College of Communication, which includes the Schieffer School, has announced his retirement at the end of the 2007-2008 academic year.

 

After a sabbatical, Slater will join the faculty of the Schieffer School, where he holds the rank of professor of broadcast journalism. Provost Nowell Donovan is appointing a search committee to look for Slater's replacement as dean.

John Denton named Exes President

 

John Denton ’85 was elected president of the Journalism Exes at the annual Exes Breakfast on Homecoming.

 

Denton succeeded Mark Mourer (see Mark’s column below for his commentary on the “achievements” of his presidency).

 

Denton is in his 19th season as a color analyst for TCU football.  Last May, he received the Lindsey Nelson Outstanding Broadcaster Award, given annually to recognize excellence in college football broadcasting.

 

A broadcast journalism graduate of TCU, Denton is director of the Frog Club on campus.
